Positioning and Voice

The Positioning Sentence

A brand starts with one sentence that says who it is for and why it is different. This lesson writes and tests it.

The structure

For whom, what you offer, and the difference that matters to them. “For solo consultants who hate admin, a template library that runs the back office in an hour a week.”

The test

Read it to someone in your customer group; ask them to repeat it and say whether it applies to them. Two tries; if it fails both, the difference is unclear.

Avoid superlatives

Best, leading, and premium say nothing. The difference must be checkable.

Keep scope small and finish it this weekend; a completed simple version beats an unfinished thorough one.

Use only claims you can stand behind in anything you publish from this lesson; invented numbers, ratings, or testimonials are never worth the risk.

Action Step

Write three candidate positioning sentences, test each with one person, and record the winner on the kit.

This lesson is educational content for founders and operators. It is general information, not professional advice for your specific company. Adapt every framework to your own situation and consult a qualified professional where a decision carries legal, financial, or tax consequences.
